4DCollab is a scientific project that addresses time and collaboration in the preconstruction activities of an Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) project.

It aims to build new knowledge on the impact of 4D computer-aided design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies on the collaboration implied in design and construction, thanks to creative methodologies.

To go further, the aim is to specify new IT systems and interactions to assist the collaborative activities related to time scheduling in situation of architectural design. These objects (i.e. time in architectural design, collaborative work around time, IT support to collaborative work around time in architectural design) are addressed from three different viewpoints: AEC (i.e. design sciences in architecture), cognitive sciences (cognitive ergonomics and cognitive psychology) and computer science (i.e. Human-Computer Interaction systems).
